2026 Buccaneer 18 North American Championship

We're excited to announce that the 2026 Buccaneer North American Championship (BNAC) is heading back to Solomons Island, Maryland — home to some of our most well‑attended and memorable BNACs. Come to Southern Maryland and Plunder on the Chesapeake Bay.

Planned Schedule of Events*

• Thursday, October 1st: Onsite Registration, Boat & Sail Measurement, and Practice Races

  • Registration and Measurements: 9:00am – 4:30pm

  • Practice Races: Intended to begin on the water at 1:30pm with no races to be started after 3:30pm

  • Welcome Event: 5:30pm - 8:30pm (2 passes included w/race fee)

• Friday, October 2nd - Sunday, October 4th: Three days of racing on the Patuxent River!

  • Friday, October 2nd

    • Skipper's Meeting: 9:00am @ SMSA Clubhouse

    • Warning Signal: 11:00am in the race area provided during the Skipper's meeting.

    • Class Meeting & Crew Event: 6:30pm @ The Lighthouse Restaurant (Additional Fee)

  • Saturday, October 3rd

    • Warning Signal: 11:00am

    • Pirates Bounty Party: 5:30pm @ SMSA Clubhouse (2 passes included w/race fee)

  • Sunday, October 4th

    • Warning Signal: 11:00am

    • No races shall be started after 2:00pm.

    • Awards Event and Meal: Immediately following racing @ SMSA Clubhouse (2 passes included w/race fee)

Extra shirts/merchandise

Expected cutoff for additional shirts is 9/10/2026. Registrations after 9/10 may not be able to receive regatta shirts.

Cutoff for Friday's dinner at The Lighthouse is expected to be 28 Sept.

Purchase Thurs, Sat and Sunday food tickets by 9/29. Limited tickets available after.

Make It More than a Sailing Weekend

The dates are selected to optimize your sailing fun! Consider arriving early or extending your trip:

• Come the weekend before:  Sail SMSA's 2-Day Fall Invitational Regatta and join the SMSA annual crab feast, then explore DC sightseeing before BNAC kicks off on Thursday.

• Head home via sailing:  The weekend after BNAC, compete in the Hospice Regatta at Western Carolina Sailing Club in Anderson, South Carolina, on your way back down the coast.

Whether you're making a quick weekend trip or turning it into a longer sailing vacation, the Solomons venue makes it easy to combine BNAC with other racing and adventure.
